Excursions through the Highlands

We have a number of great trips which hit the best places to go and the best things to do, especially for those who want to get off the beaten track. You decide what fits your tastes and where you want to end up. We can arrange transportation for anywhere from two people to a large group. Our most successful trips head out from Dalat and hit such places as Lak Lake, near Buon Me Thuot and continue up through Pleiku and Kontum in the Highlands. We most commonly finish this trip up in Hoi An, which boasts a antastic Old Quarter, with wonderfully preserved architecture.

Two Day Central Highlands Trip  ~ Dalat - Lak Lake - Buon Ma Thuoc

Day One ~ Dalat - Lak Lake                                                                     

Leave Dalat for Lak Lake at 8:30am. On the way, visit a typical vegetables, flower farm of  Dalat, coffee plantations, cricket farm along the way,  a local silk throwing factory where you can view the whole process of how silk is made and the best quality silk you can buy here at an unbelievably cheap price. Then a visit to the Elephant waterfall  to stretch your legs and feel the power of this beautiful fall out of Dalat and you also have an option to stroll your way through a quiet Buddist pagoda near by.  . Lunch at a local restaurant next to Krongno bridge. Arrive in Jun, a M’nong ethnic minority village next to Lak Lake in the afternoon. Here you’ll take a walk through the village to view local life and learn their culture . You can also have an opportunity to do optional  dug out canoe on this nice tranquil lake and enjoy sunset on a nice summer day or an optional elephant ride around the area. Overnight in long house with basic beddings provided .

Day Two ~ Lak lake - Buon Ma Thuot city

Leave Lak Lake after breakfast with the drive up to Bao Dai palace to get the view of the area. Visit the center of Buon Ma Thuot, the capital city of Daklak province , where the North Vietnamese Army launch the first campaign to liberate the central highlands in their efforts of liberating the South Vietnam. We also make a visit to the Museum to see the collections of all ethnic tribes living in the highlands.The rest of the afternoon is driving down to Nhatrang with a stop for lunch and see more local attractions a long the way. Arrive in Nha Trang in the late afternoon.

Three Day Central Highlands Trip ~ Dalat - Lak Lake - Buon ma Thuoc - Nhatrang

Day One ~ Dalat – Lak Lake

Follows day one of the two day central highlands trip.

Day Two ~ Lak Lake - BMT

Leave Lak Lake via Buon Ma Thuot  for Yok Don National Park in the morning after breakfast. Stop at Drayling - the confluence of seven rivers - for sight seeing. In Yok Don park visit the old house of the elephant hunting king. Elephant riding is available in Don village. Drive back to Buon Ma Thuot. The rest of  the afternoon visit the center of Buon Me Thuot  including the ethnic Museum to see the cultural collections of all ethnic tribes living in the highlands, Church of Buon Me Thuot, and the Central Market. Overnight in Buon Me Thuot.

Day Three ~ Buon Ma Thuot – Nha Trang

Drive 40km east of BMT after breakfast to the area of Draysap waterfalls – the most stunning falls in the south and central Vietnam.Enjoy a nice hike under tropical trees to check out different falls and the surroundings of this area. Back to BMT and continue the journey down to Nhatrang . Enjoy the amazing view on the way down Phoenix Pass and a stop for rest at Duc My hot spring. Arrive in Nha Trang in the late afternoon. Your 5 day trip is a great chance to explore all the many different taste of Vietnam dishes.

Five Day Central Highlands Trip.

Dalat - Lak lake - Buon Ma Thuoc - Kontum - Kham Duc -  Hoian along Ho Chi Minh Road.

Day One ~ Dalat - Lak Lake

Day Two ~ Lak Lake - Buon Me Thuot

We also make a visit to the Museum to see the cultural collections of all ethnic tribes living in the central highlands and an opportunity to have a walk through the central market of BMT. Overnight in hotel

Day Three ~ Buon Ma Thuot – Kon Tum

Leave for Kon Tum from Buon Me Thuot at ,vi siting local villages , black peper and rubber plants along the way . A stop at  the Sea Lake – a famous attraction of the highlands out of Pleiku city. Then continue our way to  Kon Tum. The rest of the evening is to explore this nice little city that once used to be the headquater of French in the central highlands including Konplong suspension bridge, Bana village , the classic wooden church of Kontum.ect..

Overnight in hotel.

Day Four ~ Kon Tum – Kham Duc

We still have a couple of hour in the morning before leaving for Kham Duc  so an extra sightseeing trip can be done to cover more sights of Kon Tum if you couldn’t do it the day before or a visit to an orphanage can be organized by your guide this morning . Some gifts for the kids or donations are recommended here. Please talk to your guide for more advice.  After this we continue our way to Kham Duc  , visiting a few American bases along the way – especially the famous battle at DakTo. Head  north to the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail and enjoy the most beautiful jungle landscapes of  Truong Son mountain range hugging the trail and a few waterfalls by the roadside. Check into our  hotel and enjoy the evening in this nice tranquil little town in the middle of jungle.

Day Five ~ Kham Duc – Hoi An

 Depart for Hoi An with the last chance to enjoy nice breeze of the jungle in the morning before dropping down to the coastline with hot and humid weather if travelling in summer. A visit to  My Son , holy land of the Champa Kingdom and listed as the World Cutural Heritage site in 1999,  on the way. Arrive in Hoi An in the late afternoon. Trip ends here.
